Over 60 Restaurants Participating in #EatToDefeatALS by Donating 10% of Daily Sales to the Non-Profit on Tuesday, April 5th
BOSTON, April 5, 2016 – On Tuesday, April 5th over 60 restaurants from across the country are joining together to raise critical funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) by participating in the first-ever “Eat to Defeat ALS” (www.ETDALS.com, #EatToDefeatALS). Eat to Defeat ALS is presented by Phantom Gourmet and participating restaurants have agreed to donate 10% of their daily sales to ALS ONE (www.alsone.org). ALS ONE is a non-profit partnership of the leading ALS experts from venerable Massachusetts institutions, including UMass Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, ALS Therapy Development Institute and Compassionate Care ALS, with the goal of finding a treatment for ALS within the next four years, while simultaneously improving the care model for persons living with ALS and their families.
“ALS is an extremely underfunded disease in two areas that desperately need support: care and research,” said, Kevin Gosnell, founder of ALS Knights and ALS ONE and person living with ALS. “Through ‘Eat to Defeat ALS,’ we are so grateful for all the restaurant owners that are coming together to donate to this critical cause, and we ask for consumer support to dine out on April 5th so we can raise as much money as possible. We have the best team of researchers in place working to find a treatment for ALS within the next four years, but we need to ensure they have the necessary funds to be able to accomplish this goal.”
People are encouraged to dine at participating “Eat to Defeat ALS” restaurants on April 5th, 2016 to show their support for the cause and help us spread awareness by posting where they choose to dine on social media using #EatToDefeatALS. There are over 60 restaurants participating from all over the country, including restaurants in Boston, MA and its surrounding suburbs, as well as Charlotte, NC, Madison, NJ, New York, NY, Shreveport, LA, San Diego, CA, Santa Fe, NM and York Harbor, ME. A full list of participating restaurants can be found via www.ETDALS.com.
