ALS ONE LAUNCHES ANNUAL THOUSAND FOR A THOUSAND CAMPAIGN TO RALLY BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT ALS RESEARCH & CARE
Campaign Sets One Million Dollar Fundraising Goal During the Month of May, which is “National Small Business Month” and “ALS Awareness Month”
BOSTON, May 3, 2017 – This May, ALS ONE (www.alsone.org) announces the launch of its second annual “Thousand for a Thousand” campaign to rally the Small Business community to help fund research and care for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). As the month of May is both National Small Business Month and ALS Awareness Month, ALS ONE is seeking one thousand small and medium businesses to each donate $1,000 towards ALS research and care with the goal of reaching $1 Million to benefit ALS ONE.
ALS ONE is a non-profit partnership of many of the leading ALS experts in the world from venerable institutions, including Massachusetts General Hospital, UMass Medical School, ALS Therapy Development Institute and Compassionate Care ALS, with the goal of finding a treatment for ALS by 2020, while improving care now for those battling ALS . ALS ONE was founded by Kevin Gosnell, a small business leader who had the bold vision to unite the ALS community to expedite the path to a treatment for future generations. Gosnell sadly lost his battle with ALS in August 2016, and ALS ONE remains steadfast in its commitment to carry on our mission and vision in his honor.
“Our founder truly believed that the small business community is the engine of America with the ability to move quickly and make positive change,” said Matt Hogan, Chairman of the Board of ALS ONE. “Proving this belief, our first-ever ‘Thousand Campaign’ was our largest fundraising initiative to-date and we are excited to launch it again. If small-to-medium sized businesses in Massachusettsrally and donate $1,000 each May, the impact for ALS research and care would be very significant.”
